Cc and bcc in email. The concept of “blind carbon copy”, learning not to do stupid things How to copy all WhatsApp correspondence to your computer

Most email clients, including Gmail, Yahoo, Mail.ru, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, allow you to send an email to a large number of recipients. Usually you can do this using the function Copy(in English the abbreviation used to denote it is SS), or Hidden copy (CCB). When sending a message to Copies Recipients can see the addresses of other people who also received the same email. In the second case, the identity of additional recipients is hidden.

Adding a recipient's address

To specify the recipient(s) of the email, enter their email address in the field To whom (That):

Some email clients allow you to simply enter your username into a field, which is then automatically filled in by the program.

If you use this field to send email to multiple people, each of them will be able to see the full list of other recipients.

How to create a copy of an email

Field CC or Copy used to exchange electronic messages in a more indirect way than the field To whom. If you are not directly addressing the person in your email, but would like that person to follow the conversation in the email thread or simply be aware of the topic, the field Copy would be a great option. The addressee, who is in Copies letters, receives an unread letter in his mailbox, just like the one who was placed in the box To whom; the only difference is who you address the letter to first in the body of your email. In the professional world, mailing to Copies is used very widely and serves to keep colleagues informed about various events and topics.

You can list email recipients by simply entering a list of addresses in the field Copy, which is usually located immediately below the field To whom. Everyone in this chain of recipients will be able to see the names and email addresses of all other recipients:

How to BCC an Email

Every email client (Gmail, Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Yahoo, etc.) allows the sender of an email to reach a large number of people without exposing their information to other users in the email chain. This function is called BCC or Hidden copy. You can hide recipients by entering their addresses in the field Hidden copy instead of using fields To whom And Copy:

You can use this feature for both individual and group emails. This is especially useful if you want to keep your contacts private, protect them from spam and unwanted emails, or simply if you don't want your recipients to know who received the same message.

Field Hidden copy not always available by default for all email clients. For example, in Outlook You will need to go to Options to access settings; V Thunderbird you will need to select this function from the drop-down menu; V Gmail need to press a button Copy And Hidden copy; V Windows Live Mail You will need to press the keys simultaneously Alt + B.

As a rule, a huge number of text messages, both received and sent, accumulate on a mobile phone over time. These can be simple SMS text messages or multimedia messages containing photos and videos.

What to do if the user decides to buy a new phone, but wants to keep all the SMS? In this case, it is possible thanks to the flexible settings of the Android operating system.

If the usual copying of data, for example, files and folders in the Android operating system, is carried out in a few clicks, and this does not require the installation of additional programs, then with messages it will be a little more complicated. However, as practice shows, the entire list of actions described can be performed by the average user without any problems!

Transferring messages is only possible through specialized applications, of which, fortunately, there are quite a few in Google’s service. In this material we will look at several options.

Copying messages with proprietary applications

Many popular manufacturers have released their own special software to solve this problem. If you don’t find the name of your gadget in the list below, we recommend moving on to the next section of our article, which describes the universal SMS Backup & Restore application. It can work on most mobile devices.

    Developers from HTC Corporation have created their own software product that allows you to copy and transfer SMS from one Android device to another. We are talking about the HTC Transfer Tool application. With this program, the user can transfer not only messages, but also calendars, notes, contacts and much more from one device to another in a few clicks. The only drawback of the application is that it only works on HTC smartphones!

    LG's app is called LG Backup. With this tool, you can transfer almost any type of data, from calendars and messages to multimedia data. Only the smartphone that receives data must have Android Jellybean or higher OS installed.

  • Motorola
  • Motorola has a program called Motorola Migrate for Android OS, which is designed to transfer SMS and other data from one device to another. Again, the disadvantage of the application is that only devices from this manufacturer are supported.

  • Samsung
  • Now let's move on to devices from Samsung! The large giant pleases its customers with its own application for transferring messages, settings, records and other data. The Samsung Smart Switch program is distributed free of charge on Google Play and can be installed on most devices from this manufacturer. Support for working with iPhone devices is also possible.

  • Sony
  • Sony developers recently released their own program, Xperia Transfer Mobile, for copying and transferring data. It works not only with Xperia devices but also with other mobile phones. Almost all mobile operating systems are supported, namely: Android, iOS, Windows Phone. It is possible to transfer not only text, but also multimedia messages, settings, photos and videos, notes and other important information.

A universal method - how to copy messages with SMS Backup & Restore

SMS Backup & Restore app is designed with only one purpose - to copy and transfer SMS from one phone to another for Android. If you don’t want to waste time once again understanding the principle of working with one or another program described above, then install this application. Here, all operations are performed in a few clicks, regardless of the smartphone manufacturer and OS version.

Versions from 1.5 to 5.0 and higher are supported. Developers constantly release updates and fix bugs.

And so, to work you will need to do the following:

  1. Go to Google Play service and download the application to your device.
  2. Allow the installation and wait for the installation to complete. Launch the program.
  3. Click "Backup" to create a complete copy of all messages on your phone.
  4. Transfer the finished copy to another smartphone and enter the program. Find the “Restore” item there and specify the path to the file. Within a few minutes, the application will restore all your messages, with a complete list of contacts and attachments.

The application is distributed only with foreign language support, but the average user will be able to use it without much effort, since the interface has only a few menu items:

  • Backup – make a copy of messages.
  • Restore – restore a copy of messages.
  • Delete Backups – delete all copies of messages.
  • Delete Messages – delete all messages.

If you have many copies, you can use the built-in search, which can find all copies in the Android operating system in a matter of seconds. Users also have settings in the application itself! Files can be saved in XML and uploaded to cloud services, for example, from Google or Mail for further work.

All messages can be viewed on a personal computer, the content can be edited, and information about the sender can be viewed. It is also possible to set up automatic copying at a scheduled time, for example, every week.

And so, now you know how to transfer SMS from Android to Android, using different programs and tools that are available in the free Google Play mode! Don’t forget to regularly create not only copies of messages, but also contacts, and preferably Android settings. You can read instructions about this on our website!

What you need

It is very easy to lose SMS messages. There are times when you want to delete only one message, but instead you delete an entire conversation.

  • Android smartphone
  • SMS Backup+ app from Google Play Store

All is ready? Then you can start.

Note: Technically, you can configure SMS Backup+ in such a way that it will work with any mail server that has IMAP enabled. However, since the app was designed to work with Gmail and Gmail has great message search and other features, we won't spoil everything.

Step 1: Setting up a Gmail account for IMAP Access

SMS Backup+ requires IMAP access to your Gmail account. Let's take one minute and go to Gmail to check whether this feature is enabled or not.

Log in to your Gmail account and go to the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab in the settings. Check that the IMAP function is enabled and save the settings. This is the only thing you need to set up in your Gmail account.

Step 2: Install and configure SMS Backup+

After you have enabled IMAP support in your Gmail account, you need to install SMS Backup+. Go to Google Play Store and download the app. After the application is installed, you need to configure it. Launch the application. The first thing you will see will look like this:

The first step is to set up the application's connection to your Gmail account. Click Connect. You will be asked to Select an account that will be used to save the SMS backup.

Select an account and give the required permissions. You can backup SMS on Android right now or skip this step.

The backup process will begin, which, depending on the number of messages, can last a couple of minutes or several hours.

You don't even have to wait for the process to complete to go to your Gmail account and check your saved messages. Log in to your Gmail account and on the left side you will see a new “SMS” tab, open it.

Congratulations! You learned how to backup SMS on Android using the SMS Backup+ application. Gmail stores not only SMS, but also MMS messages that you have received or sent. Now let's look at the additional features.

Step 3(optional): How to backup SMS on Android automatically

Once you have set up automatic backup, return to the home screen and head to "Advanced Settings". Here you can change settings for backup, restore, and notifications. In the “Backup” settings, you can select data for backup (SMS, MMS, Call Log), and also create a white list that will contain contacts, messages and calls from which you want to save.

There are not many settings for recovery, but they are still worth a look. When SMS Backup+ stores your messages in Gmail, it creates a conversation for each contact. You can tell SMS Backup+ to restore only those conversations that are marked as important in your Gmail account.

That's all. Now you know how to backup SMS on Android manually as well as automatically.

Every day, people receive and send more than ten billion different messages using WhatsApp. Since two thousand and fifteen, this service has been recognized as the most popular messenger among residents of the Russian Federation. Using the program, you can correspond with loved ones, send them photos, videos and music. But, sometimes it happens that application files may be lost due to some reason. In this case, a backup copy of data in WhatsApp will help us.

You can find out by reading our other article.

Data transfer to WhatsApp has a very high level of secrecy. After delivery to the recipient, the message is automatically erased from the company’s servers and remains only in his phone, so if you accidentally deleted all correspondence, then it is pointless to demand that the support service restore it.

To find out the owner, read our other article.

What is WhatsApp message backup and why is it needed?

Every day at two o'clock in the morning, a local copy of the entire content of your WhatsApp chats occurs. This is necessary so that if you accidentally delete some important part of the correspondence, it can be restored.

That is, if you suddenly erased all messages in chats, then it is possible to restore all the data in the form in which it was at 2:00 of the current day. All correspondence that took place after this time, unfortunately, cannot be restored, unless, of course, you backed up the messages yourself.

Where are messages from WhatsApp copied? To your phone's memory or to an SD card, if it is selected by default as the main storage of information on your device. You can find out where WhatsApp backups are stored if you go into your smartphone's File Manager (sometimes called Explorer) and find a folder called WhatsApp, and in it the Databases subfolder.

How to backup WhatsApp on Android?

For smartphones on the Android platform, there are two ways to copy WhatsApp data - local and virtual. Below we will analyze both methods in detail and tell you why each of them is needed.

Local

Local means saving files in the device’s memory. It is this that is done every day at two o’clock in the morning by the developers and stores all your chats in case they need to be restored.

Also, it can be carried out manually at any time of the day or night, for example, to be sure of the safety of some important conversation. To do this, follow the instructions:

  • You need to enter the application and open the settings panel in the upper right corner.

  • On it, find the inscription “Settings”, and in them the item “Chats”.

  • Go to Chat Backup and you will see a Backup button (usually bright green).

  • By touching it, you will save all the chat data for the current moment and will be able to restore it later in case of loss.

Where is WhatsApp backup saved on Android? In a folder called WhatsApp, and there in the Databases folder.

Virtual

Virtual storage refers to saving files in cloud storage on Google Drive. It is needed, for example, to transfer information when changing a phone, and also in case the device is accidentally damaged to such an extent that retrieving information from its memory is impossible.

It, like the local one, can be configured to automatically save a fresh copy of WhatsApp to Google Drive. It is also possible to set different time intervals, from once a day to once a month. You can do this as follows:

  • Open WhatsApp and go to Settings

  • From the menu items, select “Chats”, and then “Chat backup”.
  • “Google Drive Settings” will appear in front of you.

  • First of all, you should select the account on which the information will now be stored. Just tap the “Account” line and click on the one you need.
  • After this, decide how often copying suits you and replace the “Never” item with any other one suggested, at your discretion.
  • Please note that all video files are not saved on the virtual disk to save space. If you are not happy with this, check the box next to “Add video”

Your data is now stored in Google Drive! WhatsApp backups will be searched from there.

How to backup WhatsApp on iPhone?

For iOS phones, the method for creating storage for files is slightly different from the one described above. But you can also make a one-time copy or configure the system so that it creates backups at a certain time. All information will be saved on your iCloud account.

You can do it like this:

  • Find the control panel in the application and tap “Settings”
  • Select “Chats”, then “Copy”
  • Now you can create a one-time copy (a) or make copying automatic at certain intervals (b).

A – Tap the “Create a copy” button and wait until saving the information is completed.

B - Find the “Automatic” item and select the period of time after which you want the data to be saved. Decide if you want all downloaded videos to also be saved with other information (this will take up much more space) and confirm your choice on the screen.

How to copy all WhatsApp correspondence to computer?

You can do it like this:

  • In the WhatsApp application, open “Settings”, then “Chats”
  • Click on “Chat History”

  • From the four options that appear, select “Send by email” and then follow the system prompts. This way you can save all messages on WhatsApp and send them to your computer.

Attention! If the chat history is too large, it may not be sent completely due to email size limitations. The only way to send misplaced information is to delete older entries in the application after they are on the computer, then the missing part of the information can be sent a second time. This is the only way to open a full WhatsApp backup on your computer if it is too large.

How to delete a WhatsApp backup?

If, for any reason, you need to delete this information, then it is easy to do. You just need to keep in mind that you can open files of this type for viewing only through the WhatsApp application to which the number is linked.

To delete information, you need to know where to find a WhatsApp backup.

    • Enter File Manager or Explorer (depending on your smartphone model)
    • Find a folder in the directory called WhatsApp
    • Enter it and, having selected the “Backups” (or Databases) item, hold it with a long press on the screen.

  • From the options offered by the device, select “Delete”

How to restore a WhatsApp backup on Android and iPhone?

If you accidentally deleted some chats or individual important messages and want to restore them using the backup copies you saved, follow the instructions below.

For Android

    • Remove the application from your device;
    • Download it again from PlayMarket;

  • When confirming the number, the program will ask whether you will restore backups;
  • Agree with Restore.

If the application does not find the required copies, the reasons for this may be the following:

  • Your files on the device’s internal memory or card have been corrupted;
  • The phone number used is not the one registered in the account;
  • You connected to the wrong Google Drive to which the copy was made.

For iPhone

  • You need to delete this application from your phone and then download it again through the App Store;
  • Confirm your phone number;
  • Following the system prompts, when asked whether to restore data, click on “Restore”;
  • The files will be recovered using your iCloud account.

After reading our other article, you will find out how you can install at the same time.

Possible backup problems and how to resolve them

If problems arise when copying data, pay attention to the following facts:

  • Internet connection quality

If the signal is weak, then you need to change the network to another one, with a stronger and more stable signal. For example, change mobile Internet to Wi-Fi.

  • Traffic amount

If the traffic package on your tariff is not enough, the connection may be interrupted and copying will not be completed.

  • Availability of free space on the device or virtual disk

When there is not enough space, the system may refuse to migrate data. Free up enough space.

  • No connection between Google or iCloud account and device
  • If the corresponding account has not been created on your phone, create one and check its connection with WhatsApp in the application settings menu.
