In my opinion, one of the best devices today, I have growth. The camera is excellent, the design is super, protection from moisture and dust is a special thanks to the Sony developers, as they wrote below, there are different situations when you have to use the phone in rain and snow. I'm a HTC supporter and lately I've only been using this brand, until a friend let me use Sony experia V for a couple of days and I fell in love with this model.

    Name SONY, good display, waterproof

    2 years ago 0

Really waterproof, just so as not to have to pull the caps I immediately bought 2 docking stations (at home and in the car). Good photos and videos, but only in good lighting. Well made! The rest is like a regular AndroSmartphone

I compare mainly with S3. - This is the optimal screen size even for my rather big hands. - speed of operation - holds a charge well - charges quickly - normal display - moisture protection, but haven’t tested it - excellent speaker for both signal and conversation. I’m a little deaf, so no one can tell you about this aspect better than me.

Battery, but this is a problem for all smartphones, as they say, do not remove the film from the phone screen under any circumstances, but rather stick another protective film on it. When you remove the film, the Sony logo is also removed, I don’t recommend it, and the film itself is very delicate and over time, scratches and abrasions appear on it.
    Unnecessarily high price.

    Constant freezes, battery sucks

    2 years ago 0

The most important thing in any equipment is that it works! My Sony V, after 5 months of operation, first began to lose the network, then turned off on its own (it began to lose work due to unanswered calls), and in the end it simply froze (I got tired of taking out the battery)....... The service center said "diagnostics" up to 21 days, repairs up to 45 days" ...... FUCK YOU!

As soon as the water got in, he was covered with a copper basin

    2 years ago 0

Sometimes it reboots itself. In six months of use, this happened 5 times.
Sometimes it does not switch between grids, it writes: connection problems or incorrect MMI code. Because of this, I sometimes missed important calls because I was offline (((
I suffered with this for a long time, now I have set the network mode to GSM only in the settings, I constantly change the modes if necessary.
When working in an LTE network, it discharges quickly. Charging is enough for about 1 day, no more.

    2 years ago 0

Glitches, constantly after a conversation I can’t end the call, I have to unlock the screen with a button, once there was sod (see 4pda), the interface (some kind of gray) well, the battery is a heap. The screen is yellow compared to HTC.

The sensor to turn off the screen during a conversation works strangely, sometimes yes, sometimes not. Sometimes you need to end a conversation or hang up, etc., you take the phone away from your ear, and there is a black screen. Fortunately, I found the function to cancel a call with the unlock button; I press it automatically when the call ends. Synchronization with the computer does not work well. On Win 8, the drivers were installed automatically, but it’s not possible to copy files to a flash drive via a data cable, it doesn’t copy and that’s it. Everything is fine through the card reader. On a computer without Internet with Win XP, I had to dance with a tambourine for two days to install the drivers. Moreover, the Sony PC Companion program does not want to work anywhere...
When using the Internet, the battery is discharged by a percentage per minute.

Too light. You can't feel it in your hand or pocket. You hold S3 and understand the thing. Sony seems to be the same thing, but it lacks the weight of sensations.

    Removable

Smartphones are a true symbol of modernity, and many can no longer imagine life without them. About a year and a half ago, V was released, which at that time quickly became the flagship model. What it deserves V - one of those smartphones that consistently ended up under Christmas trees for two years in a row. This circumstance alone speaks volumes.

    Screen

This component most often receives praise. With this, everything is fine with the phone: 4.3 inches, resolution 1280 x 720, which at that time was considered a very good indicator, and even today a smartphone does not look like an anachronism with it. Users really like the Sensor on lens option, thanks to which the display has significantly increased viewing angles. Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology, which was brought to perfection in this model, makes the picture even more realistic. Many buyers say that this option was the reason for the purchase, since none of the competitors had such a high-quality image.

    Moisture protection

More precisely, protection not only from moisture, but also from dust. This option has received numerous accolades. V is the gadget that you can take with you to the beach without any fear. Users note that with it you don’t have to be afraid of getting caught in the rain; The phone can lie in the sand for a couple of hours, but dust will not get inside the case. If your smartphone gets dirty, you can easily wash it directly under running water.

    LTE

Sony Xperia V is the first model from a well-known Japanese company that fully supports operation in Russian LTE networks. It can operate in the following ranges: I, III, V, VII and XX. Please note that you will need a special SIM card in any case. Many buyers argued with technical support for a long time, not having the slightest idea about this nuance.

    A little trick

Experienced users have discovered one feature that is not documented in any way in the usual manual. By entering the combination *#*#4636#*#*, you can set LTE only in the settings, as a result of which the device turns into an excellent access point. If you find yourself in a large city where there is already a fourth generation network, do not miss the opportunity to experience all its benefits!

This opportunity is especially valuable for those people who often travel on business trips.

    Design

This item also received good reviews. Sony Xperia V was not without reason a bestseller in its time. Even today, buyers often pay attention to its beauty. The concave lid looks fresh and unusual, distinguishing the device from a bunch of similar flat “bricks” that have flooded the world market today. In addition, experienced gadget lovers note that it was the release of this model that became the milestone from which Sony completely abandoned the buttons on the front panel: from that time on, they completely moved directly to the display.

However, reducing the number of buttons does not always delight customers. Unfortunately, due to the disappearance of the mechanical camera button, you now have to use the application icon on the display, as a result of which you may not have time to take a successful shot. There are also not enough connectors here - microUSB and a 3.5 mm jack for headphones. Actually, this is what distinguishes the Sony Xperia V smartphone from its contemporaries, which often also have an HDMI port.

Of course, they are all protected by plugs, which many also do not like: over time they become loose, and girls complain that due to their density they sometimes break their nails. However, if you are constantly in nature, then these features cannot be called disadvantages.

A powerful aluminum rib along the perimeter of the body not only adds a certain charm to the smartphone, but also makes it much stronger. In any case, it is this that has earned excellent reviews: Sony Xperia V can fall from a decent height, but there will not be a single crack or deep scratch on the body.

    Entrails

Oddly enough, many buyers for a long time had no idea that they had purchased a device protected from moisture. The plugs don't mean anything yet: they were still on the antediluvian Samsung X100. And under the lid everything looks quite ordinary.

This is the main “trick” of the Sony Xperia V: the review shows that this is only a decorative surface, and all the “guts” are protected by a non-removable waterproof plate. In addition, a rubber gasket runs along the border of the back cover, which is a reliable barrier against dirt and dust.

    Characteristics

On board this smartphone there is the most powerful chip in this line: Qualcomm 8960 Snapdragon S4, paired with a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, Krait. Of course, 1 GB of RAM is somewhat not enough these days, but none of the users complained about the interface or applications being slow. There is 8 gigabytes of internal memory. In addition, Micro SD cards up to 32 GB are supported.

The battery today is clearly too small - 1750 mAh, but experienced users say that the small volume is compensated by proper standby mode settings, which can significantly save battery life and customers’ money. The settings are factory settings, so you don’t need to “tweak” anything yourself.

    Software

Initially, it was sold with Android 4.0.4, but today the version can be updated, since the manufacturer traditionally has long-term support for its gadgets. In addition, Sony Xperia V, whose firmware is somewhat outdated, today has a bunch of unofficial custom mods, among which it is easy to choose your own.

Experienced users testify that this is the first smartphone in which the company has seriously moved away from the traditional purpose of buttons in the menu.

Thus, the Menu button has been replaced by a widget, when clicked, a list of recently running applications is called up. This decision was dictated not by any internal disagreements in the company, but by the basic requirements of Android. The decision is controversial, but almost everyone gets used to it pretty quickly. Most likely, it was precisely because of the peculiarities of this OS that Sony at one time chose to abandon support for mechanical buttons.

As we have already said, the characteristics of the existing hardware are quite sufficient for comfortable work and rest. Nothing slows down or freezes. This phone Sony Xperia V differs from many modern models.

    Pre-installed set of applications

It’s good that in our age, when every more or less significant company creates its own shells for Android (almost always causing a desire to “tear them down”), there are still companies that approach customization wisely. In any case, Sony’s own interface has not only been around for four years now, but also has a ton of fans. In addition, users are satisfied with the pre-installed sets of applications in the company's smartphones.

Of course, there is the ubiquitous Facebook, a decent selection of games and other entertainment programs. The selection is good: nothing irritates, and everything goes well with the usual Android utilities.

It is interesting that it was this manufacturer who at one time began to actively promote Play-Movies and Play-Books. Yes, yes, Sony was actually at the origins of Google’s decision to start selling not only applications, but also other content. Thus, users at one time enthusiastically read free Pushkin, Gogol, and Dostoevsky. However, you still don’t have to pay for books by these writers, and in other cases there are free excerpts to familiarize yourself with the work.

Thus, Sony Xperia V, whose price is 10-11 thousand rubles, still remains an excellent candidate for the role of a gift. Not necessarily a New Year's phone - such a phone will be happily accepted at any time of the year.

    Content:

The Sony Acro S smartphone had a similar set of qualities, but was larger. The Xperia V model, in turn, is not only compact, but also equipped with a decent functional set.

In terms of characteristics, the smartphone offers familiar capabilities, for example, a similar set of qualities is offered by the recently tested Sony Xperia TX. Here too there is a 1.5 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, plus a slot for a microSD card up to 32 GB. A 4.3-inch diagonal screen with HD resolution, a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus and FullHD video recording, a 1700 mAh battery, rare LTE support - all this splendor gives the device a ticket to the “major league” of Android phones.

    Equipment:

    • Stereo headset with attachments

    • USB cable

    • Charger

    • Brief instructions

    Design

Recent new Sony products are similar to each other, this applies equally to both expensive and cheaper solutions. The originality of the shapes of the NXT line is a thing of the past; in return, the features that the and had, surprising with the atypical curve of the rear panel, have returned. Xperia V also continues this concept; externally, the top-end V, T and TX are very similar to each other.

As before, Sony is launching the smartphone in several colors: there are black, white and pink options. I liked the black one more: in this case, the device receives a panel made of soft-touch plastic, and not matte, as was the case in the tested white sample. Also, the edging on its sides is not silver, but dark gray. In general, this option looks, in my opinion, the most interesting. In white the device looks simple. I won’t say anything about pink, because this is definitely an option for girls, but if a girl wants a pink phone, then no one will argue with it, she likes it, and that’s all.

Dimensions are 129 x 65 x 10.7 mm, weight 120 g. Due to the fact that additional protection against moisture IP55/57 was required, the device became a couple of millimeters thicker than, but its weight decreased. In any case, this is one of the most compact smartphones with top-end hardware on the market.

Above the screen there is a speaker, a front VGA camera, a proximity and light sensor. The useful indicator light has not been forgotten either.

Touch buttons have now become part of the interface, so they have a place right on the desktop, there is no longer a separate zone. There is a microphone at the bottom end.

At the top end there is a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, which is closed with a hinged lid. For those who often listen to music, this will not be the most successful way; you have to regularly open and close the connector. Alternatively, use a Bluetooth headset, it should be more convenient.

On the left are the connectors for the docking station, which can be purchased separately. Above them is another connector, microUSB is placed here, it is also located under a plug. Considering that the smartphone is charged every day, it is not very convenient to live with such a cover; if you buy an additional cradle, the situation should change in a better direction.

The volume control and screen lock buttons are located on the right side, which is much easier to reach than the top end. They are convex, although small in size. Nevertheless, they are quite comfortable to use.

The rear surface is concave, as has been the case before and has been seen in other Sony devices more than once. The design is modest, no frills: at the top is the camera lens and flash, at the bottom is the speaker hole. There are also two microphones here.

For a waterproof device, the smartphone is thin and light, and it has a collapsible design. If we remember previous models, the Xperia acro S could not be disassembled at all, it also did not allow access to the battery, and it had a system of powerful gaskets inside. Here the main role is played by a dense rubber gasket, which reliably protects the compartment with the battery, microSIM and microSD located nearby. Taking into account the ideology of the smartphone, the lack of a slot for “hot-swap” memory cannot be considered a disadvantage; here it is a reasonable precaution.

    Screen

The screen diagonal is 4.3 inches, resolution is 720 x 1280 pixels, up to 16 million colors are displayed. The pixel density is high, it is 342 PPI, this is an excellent indicator. The capacitive screen supports 10-point multi-touch and responds well to touch. Here, the sensor is combined with glass into one layer, which makes it possible to reduce the thickness of the display.

The proximity sensor turns off the screen when the phone comes close to your face during a call. Thanks to the built-in accelerometer, when you turn the phone on its side, the image on the screen changes orientation from vertical to horizontal. The brightness is adjusted not only automatically, but also manually.

Mobile Bravia Engine 2 is used for the first time in this model; the smartphone, as before, allows you to activate or disable this option, which will automatically correct pictures or videos.

The display is covered with tempered glass, which provides reliable protection against scratches and abrasions. But just in case, all smartphones will be sold with the factory film attached. It is practically invisible; additional protection never hurts. On the street, the data on the display is perfectly readable in the bright sun, which is rare for its class. For a TFT screen, the viewing angles are good, but when compared with SuperAMOLED, the difference is immediately noticeable - the contrast seriously drops. Using the Xperia V as an example next to .

    Filling

The smartphone runs on the Android 4.0.4 operating system. A dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260A processor with a frequency of 1.5 GHz and an Adreno 225 graphics chip are installed. The new product is the first Sony smartphone with a fourth-generation processor. There is 1 GB of RAM, as well as 8 GB of internal memory, and there is a slot for a microSD memory card. This means that everyone can choose the optimal amount of data storage for themselves if they are not satisfied with the size of their own memory. In general, the smartphone is fast, it is no different from the similar Sony Xperia TX, and it is a pleasure to use.

    Menu

At the top of the screen there is a service line, which displays the time, battery charge, and signal reception level indicator. Active connections and other data are also visible there. By clicking on it, you can find out in more detail what programs were downloaded, what messages and letters were received, or what files were received via Bluetooth. Additionally, there is a line with keys that will help you quickly disable a number of functions.

Both preinstalled images or wallpapers from Sony, as well as your favorite pictures, are used as design elements. There are seven different colored menu themes available. In addition, shortcuts and folders are placed on the desktop. Design themes are activated; in total, there are seven multi-colored background options.

Widgets are added from a vertical drop-down menu or from a separate list in the general list. There are five desktops available for additional items; the number cannot be changed. You can swipe two fingers from different angles, all desktops will be reduced and displayed on one screen.

The Application Manager is launched with a separate button. At the same time, you can access additional widgets that may be urgently needed: notes, calculator, voice recorder or clock. They go as an additional layer above the desktop. You can install widgets from Google Play yourself.

When the screen is locked, the display shows the date and time. To unlock the screen, you need to swipe your finger along from left to right. If you do it the other way around, the silent mode will turn on, as indicated by the additional icon. This displays additional information about missed calls, new messages, emails, calendar events, and Facebook notifications. If such notifications seem unnecessary, you can turn them off.

The smartphone menu consists of several work zones, initially there are three. If you install additional applications, then over time there will be more such areas. There are 20 icons on the screen on a translucent background, under which you can see the wallpaper installed on the main screen. The icons are arranged in a way that is convenient for the user. There is also sorting by several criteria: alphabetically, frequently used, recently installed.

    Phone book

The smartphone has a convenient assistant for importing contacts both from a SIM card and from Facebook and Google accounts; they are displayed in a single list. A backup copy of the list of numbers is created on a memory card; the data can later be restored. Sorting by first and last name works.

When you create a new contact, many fields are created. These are various types of telephone numbers, email addresses, means of quick communication (AIM, ICQ, Gtalk, Skype and others), residential addresses and others (nickname, note, Internet call).

The smartphone has a list of letters of the alphabet located on the right side of the screen. If you press your finger on this line and move down or up, a letter will pop up on the screen - a kind of quick search, which helps in cases where the phone has several hundred, or even thousands of contacts. The search works by the first letters of the contact name for both language layouts.

There is a menu of favorite numbers where you can add the most popular contacts. A quick menu is available: you need to click on the icon with a contact photo, after which you can call, send a message via SMS or email, or view data on Facebook.

    Call log

Directly from the phone book you will have access to the call log, it is highlighted in a separate tab. There, a single list contains dialed numbers, received and missed calls; for clarity, they are marked with icons of different colors. By clicking on a line, you can delete a number from the call log, add it to a contact, or perform some other actions. If you select a number from the list, detailed information about the call will be displayed.

By viewing your call history, you can not only make a telephone conversation with the selected subscriber, but also send him an SMS or an email from this list without going to another menu. Dialing is carried out using a convenient virtual keyboard. There is an automatic search for numbers that match numbers or letters; Russian language symbols are also provided here.

    Messages

For SMS and MMS there is a common folder where received messages go. When you add various objects to an SMS, it will automatically be converted into an MMS. Messages are grouped by recipient into a correspondence feed. When dialing a subscriber's number, the phone displays a list of matching numbers in alternating numbers.

You can copy, cut and paste text. A convenient cursor is used for navigation, which helps to correct typos and highlight the necessary sections of text. In addition, you can use arrow buttons.

Smart text input is available, where word correction and auto-completion systems help you type text, allowing you to avoid wasting time correcting errors. Possible word options are shown in a separate line above the keyboard. Copying and pasting of fragments is supported. Now Sony has implemented an analogue of Swype, which simplifies text entry. The keyboard is comfortable, I also liked the automatic error correction system.

    Email

The phone perfectly understands various encodings and supports loading attachments in familiar formats. Both the function of copying text and automatically checking your mailbox work - just specify a convenient interval. Sorting mail by date, subject, sender and size works. When creating a new letter, you can send a picture by mail. Your device allows you to view attachments, such as various types of documents, presentations, tables, or images.

    Camera

The smartphone uses a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor R module with backlighting, autofocus and LED flash. The dedicated shooting button has been abandoned here, so you have to either launch the camera from the menu or through the lock screen.

The interface is designed not only for landscape, but also for portrait mode. The screen displays auxiliary icons that make it easier to set up photography modes and conditions. At the top right is a lever for switching between photos and videos, then there is a shutter button. Even lower is a stack of icons that show thumbnails of recent photos. If you click on it, you will go to the gallery.

The smartphone has a new intelligent shooting mode, and similar functionality has recently been added to Sony cameras. But if in the NEX-6, which I use, there are no questions about this function, then I did not like the implementation of this option in the smartphone. The device does not set the white balance correctly, causing the picture to deteriorate. It’s easier to set the standard mode; with its help, the pictures are of higher quality. The examples show how colors are distorted.

    Gallery

Photos and various images, as well as videos, stored in the smartphone’s memory are displayed here. The gallery works in both vertical and horizontal orientation. They are divided into small groups, sorted by date. There is a separate map that contains images with geotags, as well as a group with different pictures from social networks. There is an original function that allows you to resize the preview using multi-touch.

At the beginning of each group there is a large miniature, and next to it there are smaller images. The image opens in full screen, scaling works using multi-touch. Files are sent via email, Bluetooth, SMS or hosted on Picasa. Images are assigned as desktop wallpaper or assigned to a contact. Rotating images and reducing their size are supported. A photo editor is available to add various effects to existing images.

    Playing video

The player is presented as a separate application, it is separate from the gallery. All videos from the device’s memory are displayed here; they are equipped with additional annotations that the smartphone can download from the Internet. The player is quite simple, but can perform all the necessary functions. The manufacturer claims support for the following types: 3GP, MP4, AVI, MKV, MOV, XVID. The smartphone supports more formats than previous flagships and plays videos in 720p without conversion.

    Timescape

Timescape combines tabs that combine messages from various social networks: Facebook, Twitter, VKontakte. In addition, there is data on phone calls, SMS and MMS, and email. The displayed data can be customized, and unnecessary data can be hidden. The update is also installed: manually or automatically. Additional applications are installed from the Google store. Messages are presented in the form of translucent panels on which the name of the sender, the text of the message itself, as well as the source where the message came from are written. The list scrolls very quickly, without a hint of delay. In general, the thing is beautiful and interesting, the main drawback is related to the not very beautiful design - if the author of the message has an avatar, then it will be depicted stretched across the entire width of the transparent panel.

    Player

The player offers two tabs. The first is dedicated to the song currently playing, and the second contains all the information about the music in the device’s memory. Tracks are organized into several categories: artist, album, tracks, lists, SenseMe, and featured tracks. Each group is highlighted in a separate box, under which the number of data is indicated.

A search function is available, which is useful for working with a large music storage. The information is sorted alphabetically. I would also like to highlight the SenseMe function, which came from Walkman players. It allows you to choose tracks to suit your mood, which is very convenient. To do this, you will need an application that is installed on your computer, and with its help you can analyze your entire media library by entering the necessary data into the file tags.

From the list with music, you can add songs to a playlist or send them via MMS, Bluetooth or email, as well as to a cloud service. A mixing mode is provided. The screen displays the name of the artist, the name of the album and the song being played. In music playback mode, the album cover is displayed (if it was assigned previously), and there are playback control buttons on the screen. You can switch tracks not only by pressing buttons, but also by flipping through album covers. If desired, the song is set as a ringtone, and you can also find additional data about the song using tools from Google, YouTube, or download additional modules through the Play Market.

Equalizer settings are available, the presets are as follows: normal, heavy music, pop, jazz, unique, soul, light, bass boost, treble boost, special. The last profile allows you to set your own parameters for playing music.

The xLOUD function allows you to get very loud sound from the speaker. It’s easy to notice the difference; with this option you will hear your phone in any, even very noisy place. Enables surround sound emulation: concert hall, club, studio. The function of editing data directly on the phone will be useful. You can take a song, make changes to the tags, correct the title, the smartphone itself will find the cover or offer one of the options.

Player control buttons have appeared on the lock screen when music is playing in the background; they help control the player. Declared support for AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, OGG, WAV, MIDI, MP3, AMR-NB, AMR-WB. The included headset is of very decent quality, these are some of the best headphones that you can currently get with your phone. A set of replaceable rubber nozzles is also included. A separate button helps answer the call and control the player: start-stop, forward-backward functions work. The mid frequencies are well developed here, and the lower range is also pleasant. Fans of deep bass can try playing with the equalizer. The sound reserve is not the largest, it is there, but sometimes you have to set the volume to maximum.

    Radio

The smartphone has a radio with an automatic station search function; you can also switch manually. Also, several dozen frequencies are stored in the phone's memory. It's easy to switch between your favorite stations by clicking on the small icons. While listening to the radio, you can record a snippet of a song, identify track information using Track ID, and post the information to Facebook.

TrackID allows you to identify a melody playing on the radio on your smartphone or somewhere nearby. Not only the title of the song will be displayed, but also the album name, artist name and cover art.

    Organizer

The calendar can be configured to display information for a whole month, week or specific day. You can set the alert type and tone for recorded events and meetings. There is a division of information by storage location, each option has its own color label.

The new entry is given a name, period and location. You can specify which calendar it will be synchronized with, and you can send invitations to contacts from your address book. The repetition period is set (every day, weekly, monthly, yearly). A reminder will help you not to lose sight of the recording - the alarm will go off in advance.

    Alarm

The smartphone allows you to save several alarms in memory. The repeat can be set either once or every day, only on weekdays or weekly. You can also set specific days. The signal melody is set, you can add a vibration alert and a text file to it. Sets the period for the signal to be triggered again.

    Applications

Displays time in different time zones.

There is a stopwatch and a timer.

The calculator calculates in both portrait and landscape orientation.

Play Market will be a useful source for installing new applications. There is a convenient search function, as well as dividing programs into categories, which greatly simplifies browsing. You can look at the reviews, evaluate the rating and express your opinion about the software. Each application is provided with a brief description and images for greater clarity. Purchased applications are displayed in a separate list, which is convenient: if you purchased a new phone, you can immediately install those programs that were previously purchased.

    YouTube

The application, standard for most modern devices, allows you to view videos and search among them. The application runs in full screen mode.

The built-in version of Office Suite can work with Word, Excel, PDF, Power Point files.

Weather forecast and news are useful every day.

The Facebook application will allow you to communicate on the network of the same name directly from your mobile device.

    Built-in Google Talk chat.

The Google+ social client is also installed on the smartphone.

You can create notes. The standard application can work with Evernote, which is very convenient.

There is a convenient application for creating a copy of various data stored in the device.

    Google search works.

A separate application will simplify the operation of your smartphone as a modem when establishing a connection with a tablet or computer.

You can set a number of actions to be performed when certain accessories are connected, for example, NFC tags or headphones.

    File browser installed.

A smartphone can control a TV, replacing the remote control.

The flash works as a flashlight and is also trained to send distress signals.

    Browser

A convenient application is used for Internet surfing. A navigation bar is displayed at the top of the screen, and to the right of it there is a shortcut that allows you to bookmark the page. The phone remembers the most visited pages and has a log of pages viewed.

Several windows open, search for words on the page, highlight text, as well as a practical function for changing the screen brightness directly from the browser. Thanks to multi-touch, pages can be easily scaled (virtual keys also work to change the size of what is displayed). The font size changes and password saving is supported. Excellent scrolling speed allows you to comfortably use your smartphone to view pages.

    GPS navigation

Google Maps is used for navigation. Traffic jams are displayed, so the application has become fully functional and convenient not only for pedestrians, but also for car owners.

There is a function for determining the current location, calculating the route from the starting point to the ending point, and specifying the method of movement: by car, on foot or public transport. The route is laid out on the map, and key places are indicated in the form of text messages, which are displayed on the screen in the form of a column; you can switch between them: view the route in advance or vice versa, go back and plot another path. The area data is clearly displayed thanks to the convenient Google Street View option.

    Connections

The smartphone operates in the GSM 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS 900/1700/2100 and LTE bands. The frequency range provided by our operators is supported. I used the MegaFon tariff; in Moscow the coverage, although not total, was decent. The declared speed corresponded to the actual speed, so if desired, you can use the smartphone as a modem. But it is worth remembering that you will have to pay significantly more for communications than for the usual 3G connections; the premiums for high-speed Internet are decent.

There is Bluetooth 4.0 with support for EDR and A2DP, in addition to other generally accepted profiles. Wi-FI b\g\n works at the usual level. The smartphone remembers entered passwords for networks and can automatically connect to them while within their range. The device can work as an access point and serve as a source for accessing the Internet for other devices. Using a microUSB connector allows you to connect your phone to a computer for synchronization and charging the battery. NFC support allows you to use Smart Tags in conjunction with a smartphone. The smartphone does not have a microHDMI connector, but does have MHL support. Therefore, you can connect it to your TV using a standard USB cable if necessary, if a special adapter becomes available.

    Working hours

A non-replaceable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1700 mAh is installed. The official operating time data is as follows: up to 7 hours of talk time, up to 300 hours of battery life in standby mode, up to 18 hours of listening to music, up to 4 hours of minutes in video mode. In continuous video playback mode at maximum brightness, the device worked for just under 4 hours.

There is an application that will help extend the operating time of your smartphone. It defines several profiles, each of which varies the number of functions used. Thus, for example, you can immediately reduce the screen brightness or turn off Wi-Fi with one click. There are settings in the menu that allow you to set certain operating parameters when the battery is low.

The battery is not at all distinguished by impressive runtime indicators. Charging during normal use, taking into account various services, camera and player, is enough from morning to evening, but compared to competitors who have already been working for more than a day in a similar mode of use, this is not so much. So, most likely, an active user will have to charge the phone twice a day.

    Conclusion

A smartphone with a good earpiece, normal vibration, ringing volume is above average, but not the most powerful. For Sony, the past year turned out to be a shock year; perhaps no other manufacturer has brought to the market so many models with top-end hardware and maximum content. Xperia V costs 25 thousand rubles, and the Xperia TX is now asking the same price. One device offers a waterproof case, the second has a screen with a larger diagonal, but in essence they are similar to each other.

In my opinion, the Sony Xperia V turned out to be one of the company’s most successful smartphones in recent times. Judge for yourself: the corporate design, the device is similar only to Sony, maybe even too much - the sameness is starting to become boring. Pleasant features of the case, carefully selected dimensions - the gadget is not very large and not very heavy. Good modern hardware, LTE, a slot for a memory card, a rich multimedia component with a high-quality camera, player and a beautiful gallery.

Dream smartphone? Well, let's just say, almost. Because if you often listen to music, you have to put up with the need to open the headphone plug. In addition, the case creaks and sometimes the menu slows down a little. Most of the comments are about the battery; I want higher battery life. There are some shortcomings, but when choosing a model of a similar level, there is nothing else to choose from; only the previously released acro S remains, but the Xperia V wins against its background in all respects. If you compare a smartphone with other devices, for example with or, then the choice here depends on the wishes of the owner. The HTC smartphone with the latest firmware works noticeably better, does not heat up as much, and battery life has increased. The Korean smartphone is also good, it has better performance and operating time. Choose, not forgetting that the Xperia V turned out to be a very interesting model, albeit with a number of comments.

    Equipment

Sony Xperia V - factory box

The gadget comes in a small white cardboard box. Its front side depicts a smartphone with water droplets on the display - an unambiguous reference to the device’s dust and water resistance. The gadget's equipment is quite standard:

    • 2A charger with USB connector;
    • microUSB ↔ USB cable;
    • Earbud headphones with spare rubber bands and a clip for attaching to clothing;
    • User guide.

    ⇡ Appearance and ergonomics

The outline of the Xperia V resembles the somewhat stronger and more brutal Xperia TX, which at one time seemed completely airy to us.

Sony Xperia V - front panel

It’s good that the Japanese giant is not trying to turn each of its smartphones into something like a shovel. Due to the 4.3-inch screen, the Xperia V seems small, so fans of “shade lamps” will find it unusual to work with the device the first time.

Sony Xperia V (top) compared to Samsung Galaxy Note II (bottom)

The front panel of the smartphone is free of any physical keys. The “Back”, “Home” buttons and the open application key, standard for the Android operating system, are software. At the top of the panel there is a slot for the earpiece, covered with a fine mesh. To the left of it is the peephole of the front camera, and to the right is a light sensor and an LED that can light up in different colors depending on the event that it wants to notify.

    Sony Xperia V front view

Xperia V, like the T/TX and J announced with it, is a follower of the proprietary “arched” design. The back cover of the smartphone is concave, making it very pleasant to hold. It is made of matte, rough plastic, so the gadget does not slip out of your hands. The lid does not collect fingerprints readily, which is good news. The main camera lens is located on it, and just below is the flash and the Xperia logo. At the bottom there is an external speaker hole.

Sony Xperia V - back and sides

A wide “metal” edge runs along all the side edges of the smartphone. Unfortunately, we put the word “metallic” in quotes for a reason - in fact, it is a stylized metal coating on plastic. During testing, it clearly demonstrated that it is not going to peel off, and is quite resistant to scratches. But the weight was reduced through the use of plastic - the Xperia V weighs only 120 grams.

The device power/lock button is located on the right side of the case. Above it are the volume keys. The 3.5 mm audio jack is placed on the top edge, and the contacts for connecting to the docking station and the MHL interface, which combines microUSB and microHDMI, are on the left. All connectors are covered with plastic rubberized plugs, thanks to which the smartphone with peace of mind Can be immersed in water. There is nothing on the bottom end other than the sensitive area of the microphone.

Sony Xperia V with the back cover removed

The back cover of the Xperia V is removable; between it and the body of the gadget there is a rubber seal. Under the “back” there are slots for micro-SIM and microSD cards, as well as a 6.29 Wh battery (1700 mAh, 3.7 V). The new product comes to the market in three colors: white, black and pink. The last solution does not seem to be the most common for the market as a whole, but quite typical for Sony.

    ⇡ Security

The assembly of the Sony Xperia V smartphone is reliable. The only exception is that the plastic case creaks under external pressure, but we are already accustomed to this. But the device is protected from dust and moisture according to IP55 and IP57 standards, that is, it will continue to function even if completely immersed in water. True, in this case the display will not respond to touches, that is, you won’t be able to “text” in the shower, but the gadget will survive an unplanned bath without any problems.

Sony Xperia V works in water

The manufacturer commented in detail on the security of the case on the official website: “According to the requirements of the IP55 and IP57 standards, the Xperia V smartphone is waterproof and protected from dust. When all ports and covers are securely sealed, this smartphone is protected against low pressure water jets from all directions to IP 55 and/or can be kept in 1 meter of fresh water for up to 30 minutes to IP57. This product is not buoyant and is not intended to operate underwater beyond the IP55 and IP57 ratings; Contact of liquid chemicals on the product body is unacceptable. If traces of moisture are found inside the case or battery compartment of the product, the warranty on it becomes void.” We would like to add that if you close all the plugs tightly, then moisture simply cannot get inside the case.
