Among these subtle improvements are logging in with a Microsoft account to ensure synchronization of settings, the Store application store for purchasing or downloading programs with the fact of purchase linked to the account (convenient!), a modified appearance of Explorer and several system components with a Ribbon ribbon, redesigned system algorithms for restoring and resetting parameters, a deep search engine that analyzes data not only on the hard drive, but also on the Internet, and much more.

“Under the hood”, Windows 8.1 has the same core as the “seven”, which means the drivers are compatible in both directions. However, the algorithm for working with low-level software has been radically redesigned. Now, when the kernel is turned off, it is not thrown out of temporary memory, but simply goes into hibernation. Thanks to this, the loading time of the operating system is up to 10 seconds (on more or less modern computers), and exiting sleep mode is only 2 seconds. On the other hand, when you reboot, the kernel is still turned off and thrown out of memory, so many users may be quite surprised - how does Windows 8.1 turn on and off faster than it reboots? Well, what a surprise.

The UEFI Boot boot mechanism has been redesigned again. Now downgrading from 8.1 to Legacy systems is almost impossible. Therefore, the unfortunate user has only one thing left to do - upgrade to Windows 10.

But if suddenly the “eight” is somehow nicer than the “ten”, then it’s worth installing it. And it is recommended to do this using directly official system images that are distributed through MSDN.
